Our Curriculum

In order for teens to develop the competence, confidence, and self-awareness they need for sustained success, they must learn the basics and build on them in a disciplined fashion.

At each of three program sites, The Work Force offers participants a five-year sequence of paid workshops that assists students to develop critical and creative thinking skills, make self-affirming and developmentally appropriate decisions, hone their social and self-management skills, and acquire financial literacy.

In these afternoon workshops, participants are challenged to measure themselves against a parade of new horizons. In the early program levels, workshop skill areas include: decision-making, conflict resolution, goal setting, communication, values clarification, and money management. As students enter their final year of the program, and work towards high school graduation, topics shift towards preparing students for post-secondary education and career success.
